Hear and/or Read Dutch Words, Phrases and Texts

Listen to a few longer texts to hear the language when you start learning Dutch - but listen again later, to study the words and pronunciation of the texts once you're beginning to understand written Dutch. Many students have difficulty with the spoken language at that stage.
As a reading exercise, you can also just look at the Dutch texts and my translations into English.

When you're serious about learning Dutch, you could listen to the material linked to on this page for 15 or 20 minutes every day. Look closely at the Dutch text and study the English translation.
Between the square brackets [ ] on my website you'll find a more literal translation (often not correct English) to better understand the Dutch and make it easier to reproduce, for instance:
We mochten geen foto's maken click to hear 2 [We were allowed to make no pictures] - We were not allowed to [make] take pictures
