Flash Cards: Test Your Dutch
Vocabulary and Listening Tests, and Grammar Exercises
The
'Vocabulary' flash cards
pages show an English word or a
picture. Think of what the Dutch word is and then check if you got it
right. Then pronounce the word and compare with how I say it.
The 'Listening Test' flash cards
pages will let you hear a Dutch
words. Think of how the word is spelled and check if you got it
right. Then think of what the Dutch word means, and look at the
English word or (sometimes) a picture.
1. Vocabulary: English to Dutch
The English-to-Dutch group of flash cards pages look somewhat like this:
English Word or Picture
Dutch Word?
-
de or het?
-
Hear
Click 'Dutch word?' to see the Dutch word for the item in the picture
or the equivalent of the English word.
The next prompt: 'de or het?' will show if the word is a
'de-' or 'het'-word

The last prompt: 'Hear' will display a 'sound controller:'
that when clicked will sound the word.
The 'Pictorial' series is especially nice if you're not a native
speaker of English and would like to avoid the intermediary language.
2. Listening: Dutch to English
(and Vocabulary: Dutch to English)
The Listening, Dutch-to-English group of flash cards pages
look somewhat like this:

The first prompt will let you hear a Dutch word to test your recognition
of spoken Dutch. Click the 'controller:'
Spell the word you hear in your mind or write it down,
and then click 'Dutch word' to
see the correct spelling, to check if you got it right.
Think of what the Dutch word means and then click
'meaning' to see the English word.
You could of course also display the Dutch word first and then listen
to it.
