You can say "Beterschap!" to someone who's sick or not feeling well, "Get well!" - 'beterschap' can also mean 'improvement,' like in beterschap beloven ('promising improvement, better behavior')
'Hij wil z'n leven beteren' 2 3 does not mean simply 'He wants to improve his life' or 'He wants to do better' but it specifically means 'he' wants to move his life away from crime and/or bad behavior towards a more moral attitude

Dutch 'best' does not always mean 'the best, superior, supreme, most desirable, most wanted' etc. but sometimes it just means something like 'satisfactory, OK.' For instance, in answer to a question like Hoe gaat 't? (How are you?) 'Best' 2 means 'OK, fine, not bad, carrying on.'

'Mis' is also 'wrong, incorrect' or 'not as it should be' - and sometimes with a sense of 'missing the target, beside the mark.'
