Adjectives Change

In most positions, adjectives get an -E ending. This only very rarely leads to a further sound change, but Dutch spelling rules may cause the reduction of a preceding double vowel to a single vowel, or doubling of a preceding single consonant:
breed/brede, dik/dikke click to hear - explained.
A few adjectives may have a shift from F to V or S to Z - explained on the plurals page.
Adjectives to singular 'het' words after 'een,' 'geen' or no article do not get the -E ending but appear in the 'root' form. Adverbs never get an -E ending.
