Unlike in the Romance Languages, the adjective almost always comes before its noun

adjective noun

Adjectives usually add an ‑E ending ('voiceless, unstressed E' click to hear - the 'schwa') to the 'root' form you'll find in dictionaries and words lists, except ...
  • 'Het' words in the singular with the indefinite article een, 'n click to hear ("a") - or één click to hear 2 3 ("one") - geen click to hear ("no, zero") or no article at all don't add an ‑E to the adjective. (Poetic license allows occasional dropping of the adjective‑E with 'het,' in root words of two or more syllables.)
  • Adjectives ending in single E‑N don't add E's. Many past participles and materials adjectives end in ‑EN. Verloren dagen click to hear ('lost days')
  • Words already ending in single E don't add an extra E, for instance oranje click to hear 2 3 (orange, the color) - there are only a few words like this
(Words ending in EE (also unusual) do add an E: gedwee / gedweeë click to hear 2 docile, pliable)
